UT Knoxville Academic Chair Development Day: February 8, 2018

Overview

On Feb. 8, UT System Administration, UTK Campus Leadership, and keynote speaker Jeff Buller will provide a day of engaging professional development and information-sharing for deans and department chairs on the Knoxville campus. Attendees will also learn about key policy updates from UT System staff, including The Office of General Counsel, Human Resources, Academic Affairs and Finance.

The day will begin at 8:30 a.m. with a complimentary networking breakfast in the Great Room (located downstairs) of the International House. Lunch and refreshments will be provided, as will a copy of Buller’s book, for those who register by Friday, Jan. 26. The day will conclude at 3 p.m.

Buller currently serves as Florida Atlantic University’s director of leadership and professional development, after serving for ten years as dean of FAU’s Harriet Wilkes Honors College. Buller has more than thirty years of academic leadership experience in positions ranging from department chair to vice president for academic affairs at Loras College, Georgia Southern University, and Mary Baldwin College. He is the author of more than a dozen books on higher education and well more than 200 articles, essays, and reviews. Along with Robert E. Cipriano, Buller serves as a senior partner with ATLAS (Academic Training, Leadership, & Assessment Services), through which he has presented numerous workshops on academic leadership all over the world. Additionally, Buller has held two Fulbright fellowships, is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi, Omicron Delta Kappa, Alpha Sigma Lambda, and a number of regional societies devoted to the study of either Wagner or classical literature.
